NorthPoint

How We
Trade.

A disciplined sequence, the same for every trade.

NorthPoint trades physical commodities as principal. Every transaction follows the same sequence, and nothing moves until each step is complete.

Risk is identified and allocated before we commit: counterparty, country, documentation, logistics and payment.

Payment and performance are secured through the banking system, not through trust alone.

The Sequence
01
Counterparty

We work only with counterparties we have identified and diligenced: ownership, licences, financial standing and track record, screened against applicable sanctions lists before terms are discussed.

02
Terms

Quality specification, quantity tolerances, delivery terms and payment security are agreed in writing, on recognised contract terms, before we commit.

03
Payment security

Trades are supported by bank instruments such as documentary or standby letters of credit, so that payment and performance risk sits with banks.

04
Inspection and insurance

Independent inspection verifies quantity and quality at loading and, where required, at discharge. Cargo is insured from the point that risk passes to us.

05
Logistics and documents

Shipping, storage and documentation are arranged and checked against the contract and the credit before presentation, so that title and payment move together.

06
Settlement and review

Documents are presented and payment settles through the banking channel. Each trade is then closed out and reviewed.

What We Do Not Do

The discipline is as much in what we decline.

We do not act as an intermediary or broker of other parties’ cargoes.

We do not act on unverified offers or documents.

We do not commit before payment security is in place.

We do not deal with sanctioned persons, vessels or jurisdictions.
